The Ñý°®Ö±²¥ School of Environmental, Coastal, and Ocean Sustainability (ECOS) invites faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students from any organizational unit within Ñý°®Ö±²¥ to become an affiliate member of the School. ECOS aims to unite the existing strengths and broad expertise of faculty already present in discipline-centered departments and organizational units across Ñý°®Ö±²¥. In so doing, ECOS will elevate existing research and creative activities of its faculty and promote the development of new transformational interdisciplinary research, teaching, and community engagement initiatives.Ìý

Affiliate Faculty Rights

  • Affiliate faculty in ECOS shall be eligible to serve on standing committees and have voting rights in ECOS shared governance.
  • Affiliate faculty will be eligible to compete for research, teaching, and community engagement incentives offered by ECOS.
  • Affiliate faculty will have their research, creative activities, and media coverage showcased through ECOS, in addition to their home departments/organizational units.
  • Affiliate faculty can sponsor and serve on committees of graduate students admitted in ECOS graduate programs.

Affiliate Faculty Responsibilities

  • Affiliate faculty are responsible for contributing to the governance of the school by serving on committees.
  • Affiliate faculty are responsible for developing, improving and implementing academic programs relevant to the School.
  • Affiliate faculty are responsible for educating, mentoring, and training students and for fostering opportunities for professional development.
  • Affiliate faculty are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of ethical behavior.

Affiliate Postdoc and Graduate Student Rights and Responsibilities

  • Will be eligible to compete for postdoc/graduate student focused research, teaching, and community engagement incentives offered by ECOS.
  • Will have the opportunity to have their research, creative activities, and media coverage showcased through ECOS, in addition to their home departments/organizational units.
  • Will be responsible for participating in ECOS supported education, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. Ìý
  • All affiliates of ECOS are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of ethical behavior.
